Which Fishing Lures Are the Best

The development of fishing lures designed to attract specific species of fish have come about all because of the bass industry and its’ wide spread growth. With the technology of today more and more advancements are being made.

Each lure has a specific class or type. Some classes cover a wide variety of fish species that it can be used with, while some other classes are designed to attract a single fish species. Listed below are just a few types of fishing lures and a brief description.

Let’s talk about standard casting lures first. If you are looking to catch such species as crappie, bluefish, albacore, Bonita, and oho then this is the type of lure you need to be using. Standard casting lures are used to catch certain species of bass. These lures are designed to be used with a medium retrieval rate. Using a synthetic material they can pass through water undetected.

Ranging from 1/16 oz. to 3 oz. this lure is best used when fishing for lightweight fish and other species of fish found in freshwater.

One thing about the standard casting lure is its’ ability to attract schools of fish due to it’s’ hand painted eye.

Next lure class is the Heavy standard casting lure. Walleye and bass are the fish that the heavy standard casting lure was designed for. Heavy standard casting lures are the counterparts to the light weight standard casting lures, but have a more reliable chance of hooking the big ones.

A jigging lure might be what you are looking for when it comes to choosing the right lure for you. The tapered jigging lure is the most popular lure in use today. They are excessively common in Florida, Mississippi, and Louisiana.

If fishing for pike or trout, then the jigging lure will be an excellent choice. They are also a good choice for bluefish and stripers.

The use of a jigging lure doesn’t give a good output of fish up to 10 feet underwater. For better performance always match lure color and bait.

Lures ranging from 1/8oz. to 1oz. are some of the smallest lures. These small lures are called Deadly Diamond Lures. These lures are great at attracting fish and causing schools of fish. The reason Deadly Diamond Lures work so great is the misleading structural features that they have. The lure is shaped like a diamond and allows light to reflect off of it. The best fish to catch when using a Deadly Diamond Lure are Bass, Crappie, and stripers.
