 Unknown Facts about Bass Fishing

            Dated as far as the latter part of the 18th century, bass fishing has been an ever growing sport that people of all ages have come to enjoy. Bass fishing originated in the Southern United States as a source for food, but has since become as a nationwide sport Full of fun for everyone. In fact several other countries have come to know bass fishing as a great past time.

            Here is a brief history of some important “fish facts”.

1. The birth of bass fishing is between the years of 1768 and 1770. The first massed produced reels available to the lovers of the sport were invented by Onesimus Ustonson. In later years these reels were modified into the bait caster. 2. In the year 1897 the patent was secured for a wind level device by William Shakespeare Jr. 3. Today’s spinner baits are an improvisation of the Shannon Twin Spinner which was developed in 1915 by the William J. Jamison Company. 4. The creation of the Tennessee valley Authority and he building of several dams instituted by President Franklin D. Roosevelt came in 1932. 5.  A patent for nylon nets, which later led to the monofilament fishing line of today, was secured by the DuPont Company in 1938. 6. $1 million dollars in earnings from bass fishing was won by Larry Nixon in the year of 1992. This event made him famous and a page in bass fishing history.

          Here is some information on Bass fish. In the sport of bass fishing several main           bass species are caught. They are as follows. 1. The large mouth bass 2. The small mouth bass 3.  The Kentucky bass           These species of fish all belong to the Micropterus family. Micropterus salmoides is the largemouth bass, micropterus dolomieui is the smallmouth bass, and the Micropterus punctatus is the Kentucky bass. There are other species of the micropterus family are caught, but among all of them the largemouth bass is the most common. Sharing similar features, you should take note that Australian bass or different than the bass of North America.

          The real success of bass fishing really took off in the 1950’s.  The popularity of the sport during this time period allowed for the development of the fishing equipment of today. From equipment such as bass boats to line and lures and don’t forget about the electronic age equipment. With equipment such as these bass fishing has become a big money sport. There a lot of people who make their living as a pro bass fisherman.

          Over $70 million dollars has been contributed to the economy due to bass fishing industry. This number is growing higher and higher every day. Statistics also show that bass is fishing is also starting to catch the allurement of more people than tennis or golf.
